NETFLIX CONFIRMS THRILLING UPDATE ON HIT COMEDY SERIES WITH MILLIONS OF VIEWS

Netflix has confirmed that a third series of Running Point is currently in development, much to the delight of its devoted fanbase.

Having launched to enormous acclaim in 2025, a second series was swiftly pushed into production and dropped just over a year later this April. The new 10-part series pulled in an impressive 6.7 million views during its opening week.

Hailed as one of the finest comedies to land on the streaming giant in recent memory, the sports sitcom stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, the trailblazing female president of fictional NBA franchise the Los Angeles Waves.

After being thrust into the role when her brother Cam (played by Justin Theroux) enters rehab, series two saw Isla navigating even greater obstacles, including fresh player drama, a new coach and the collapse of her impending marriage, reports the Mirror.

What's more, the follow-up concluded with not one but two jaw-dropping cliffhangers, perfectly laying the groundwork for even higher stakes in the third chapter.

Despite clinching a championship title for the Waves, Isla faces her most formidable challenge yet after Cam purchases a rival LA team and appoints Jay Brown (Jay Ellis), Isla's on-off love interest, as his coach.

Meanwhile, the Waves' star player Marcus Winfield (Toby Sandeman) sustains a serious injury that threatens to bring his career on the court to an abrupt end.

Having amassed a strong viewership and featured in Netflix's top 10 over recent weeks, the streaming giant has swiftly given Running Point a third series, as confirmed by Deadline.

Co-creator and showrunner David Stassen has also offered fans a brief glimpse of what lies ahead when the show returns.

"More family fights, more antagonism, more double crossing, more basketball," he told the Hollywood Reporter. "And maybe Isla walking into some glass doors again."

He also teased in Gold Derby: "I'm hoping that people think, 'Oh my god, what does this mean for Isla and for the Waves's grip on the city of L.A.?'

"They're the world champs. They own the town. But now a team across the city with more money and a big, splashy grand opening is coming, and they're going to try and steal their lunch money, steal their fans, steal their players, steal their advertisers, steal their season-ticket holders.

"There's going to be a lot of challenges for Isla and the family as Cam tries to take a foothold in the city of L.A."

For those yet to tune in, the show is well worth a watch for admirers of Apple TV's rival sports sitcom Ted Lasso, or Netflix's beloved romantic comedy Nobody Wants This.

The core cast, including Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Uche Agada, are all expected to reprise their roles.
