YouTube sensation KSI will feature in a brand new documentary series designed to chronicle "every high and low" following his acquisition of a football club.
KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, shot to prominence as an online content creator back in 2011 before his fame exploded when he established the Sidemen group in 2013. Boasting millions of YouTube followers, he's also a former boxer and Britain's Got Talent panellist.
Recently, he revealed he's purchased a share in Dagenham and Redbridge football club. Today (March 6), it's been confirmed that a groundbreaking documentary series will now be created by KSI alongside After Party Studios, documenting the acquisition of the club.
Called Race To The Top, it will track the international YouTuber as he strives to take the Daggers into the Premier League. KSI posted on Instagram: "I'm so excited to start this journey. It's gonna be a rollercoaster for sure but I hope to bring Dagenham and Redbridge back to the glory days."
The fresh documentary series will first launch on KSI's YouTube channel this summer, reaching his 17 million subscribers globally and advertised across his social platforms. It will then extend into the 26/27 football season, reports the Mirror.
It has been teased: "Cameras will track KSI as he takes the reins of the club, offering unprecedented access to the day-to-day trials and tribulations of running a non-league side in the modern football ecosystem, with boardroom meetings and fan reaction to contend with.
"The project marks a milestone moment for director Ben Doyle, aka RVBBERDUCK, who previously produced KSI's No. 1 global hit documentary KSI: Can't Lose. That film chronicled KSI's evolution from YouTube disruptor to crossover boxer and became a breakout success internationally."
KSI expressed: "This is a really big deal for me. For the fans who've been with me since Race to Division One, it's a full-circle moment - from dreaming about football online to actually taking over a club.
"Reuniting with Ben and After Party Studios makes it even more special. He's captured every high and low, and I am so excited for him to board this rollercoaster of a journey at Dagenham and Redbridge with me."
Ben Doyle, also known as RVBBERDUCK, director of Race To The Top and founder of After Party Studios, added: "When KSI called me on a rainy Sunday morning last November and said he was buying a football club, I knew I had to be there to capture it.
"When we shot KSI: Can't Lose back in 2018, I rolled the cameras as he redefined an entire sport - this feels like a true full circle moment as yet again we stand on the precipice of a seemingly insurmountable challenge. This series will see us get more access than ever before, during the highs and lows as he strives to get the Daggers to the Premier League.""
Filming is presently ongoing and will carry on at this Saturday's fixture against Dorking Wanderers - the first match KSI will attend as an owner.
