JOANNE FROGGATT KEPT ONE KEY PART OF HER DOWNTON ABBEY COSTUME AFTER FINAL MOVIE

Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt has revealed she has kept one item from her costume following the conclusion of the franchise.

The long-running period drama came to an end last week following the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, which wrapped up the story that had been told across six seasons of television and three feature films.

Following the film's release in cinemas, Froggatt, Laura Carmichael and Michelle Dockery revealed exclusively to Digital Spy that they had kept some cherished items from their time in the franchise.

"I asked our costume designer if I could keep Anna's shoes, because they were made for me in season three, and I just love those shoes," said Froggatt, who portrayed Anna Bates in all 52 episodes and three films.

"They're comfortable. I've spent hours and hours and hours standing in those shoes and that was very much like I put my shoes on and I was like, 'There she is, she's back'. So yeah, I've kept Anna's shoes."

"I have a small purse from the last day shooting the series when we filmed at The Ritz," added Carmichael, who garnered acclaim for her role as Lady Edith Pelham. "It's an original little bag.

"We had been doing a night shoot so everyone was exhausted when I asked the question, so I do think I got it when everyone was a bit tired and probably not thinking straight because it's not normal to take your costume home, but I treasure that."

Dockery, who starred as Lady Mary Talbot, also gathered a keepsake, recalling: "I was given the little [toy] dog that Mary gave Matthew at the train station in season two. It's really cute. And I have a dog who looks exactly the same years later, which seems really mad."

The Grand Finale has received positive reviews thus far, with its approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes currently standing at an impressive 91% from 100 reviews. This is an improvement on both of its predecessors, which scored 84% and 87% respectively.

"At least there is a sense throughout that everyone's story will be tied up in a neat little bow… If this really is a final goodbye to Downton Abbey, at least it is a warm one," we wrote in our review.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is in cinemas now.
