- Christopher Nolan's forthcoming epic, The Odyssey, has released a new trailer, sparking significant criticism from viewers regarding the actors' accents and modern dialogue.
- The film, an adaptation of Homer's epic poem, stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, and Tom Holland as Telemachus, alongside Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.
- Viewers have specifically highlighted the American accents used by the cast as jarring for the ancient Greek setting, with many suggesting British accents would be more appropriate.
- Particular lines of dialogue, such as Robert Pattinson's character Antinous saying “daddy” and Matt Damon's Odysseus exclaiming “Lets Go!”, have been singled out for feeling anachronistic and out of place in a historical epic.
- Nolan, who previously won an Oscar for Oppenheimer, announced the adaptation in December 2024 and stated he aims for audiences to experience the familiar story with a fresh perspective, with the film set for release on 17 July.
